The SEGA SC-3000 hardware and its peripherals were released back in 1983, so it is more than likely that parts have worn out or been damaged over time. You may find that some mechanical parts now don't work.
Well, as we've discovered, in most cases you can easily fix many problems that are seen with this hardware. One of the most delicate part of a drive is the rubber drive belt, which gets stretched after many years of being used or even sitting idle in the drive.
